I've been a Zippo person for many years. I still love my Zippos but this little lighter fits right in. Flame is a little bigger than a birthday cake candle. It's not as windproof as a Zippo but it's easily comparable to a standard disposable lighter. The directions said to use kerosene for fuel. My wife gave me this for my birthday on a camping trip, we didn't have lighter fluid on our trip but we did have kerosene we use for oil lanterns. I used the kerosene we had and the ligher works like a champ. Maybe using a more of an oil based fuel like kerosene will keep the seals lubed better to prevent leaks and being a heavier fuel than lighter fluid it doesn't burn up as quick. I have large hands and I don't have issues holding onto it but if it were any smaller it would be difficult to hold.
